The Love of God is greater far then tongue or pen could ever tell,
It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell.
Oh, Love of God! How rich, how pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forever more endure
The Saints and Angels, this is their song
The above hymn is the old classic, “The Love of God” which George Beverly Shea has never failed to sing at the Billy Graham crusades. It really is a great song in it’s entirety, and I would encourage you to google it, or better yet, look up him singing it on Youtube.
It had me thinking today about how God’s love is greater than man can possibly fathom. God’s love is extended to all people, no matter their race, nation, or creed. He wants all the peoples of the Earth to repent and turn from their rebellion, follow Him again, and enjoy the outpouring of His love on them.
He hates sin, and not only does not condone it, He outright condemns it for what it is: evil. But he still loves us enough to step out of eternity into time with and for us, then to step out of time and into eternity to take His rightful place as King Triumphant.
God loves us wretched sinners. Every one. There are seven billion people spread across this blue marble, and He knows and cares for every one. Murders, rapists, thieves, homosexuals, women who have had abortions, fathers who shirk their responsibilities, children without fathers, and mothers without husbands. He loves the priests, pastors, laymen, ordinary congregants, famous congregants, theologians, and the rich and poor alike.
On the day of the Great White Throne Judgement, He will not make distinctions. He is not a partial God, and believers will stand judgement equally with the non-believers. What sets us apart, however is that we have an Advocate, the Savior Jesus, who will stand in our defense, declaring that our sins have been pardoned by the shedding of the blood of the Sacrificial Lamb.
We are forgiven, we are pardoned! We are free and will not face punishment, because Jesus already has in our place!
Our God is holy, and He stands in judgement against sin, yet He also stands in unequaled love to all peoples. Does this mean that He will not punish evil? No, He will punish evil. If He did not than He would not be a just Judge! But in His love, He has offered pardon to all who will receive it, to all who will repent.
Will you accept that God loves you, unto the point of death? That, my friends, is true love. Find peace with God, today.
