“America, will we go down in history as a nation with no room for its King? Will we be sleeping? Will we be sleeping?” –Casting Crowns, “While You Were Sleeping”
It came to my attention that a lot of Christian pastors, leaders, etc. have recently been singing an important tune. While nonetheless talking up the importance of exercising your right to vote, they are making the great point that we as Christians are citizens of two countries, and that America is not the last, best hope of mankind (sorry, Ronnie), but that rather, Jesus Christ is.
We live here in this time as citizens of some kind of government never before seen: a Constitutional/Federal/Confederated/Presidential/ Republic. But we are also the subjects of King Jesus, and citizens of Heaven, the true Theocracy. We need to remember this, and if we do, we will be much better off.
Billy Graham is asking us to take the results of today and not act like immature little children, but rather as children of God, and not to pout. I think we can do that.
I believe America is on the wrong path, and I believe that Mitt Romney, Mormon he is, can get us on the right track again. A vote for Mitt isn’t a vote against the Kingdom, but a vote for America politically and morally. So go vote, and not along party lines, or skin color, but along what you know as a Christian of be right: life, religious liberty, and the sanctity of marriage.
I like to listen to Dr. Charles Stanley, senior pastor at First Baptist Church, Atlanta. His motto is very good for this election, and great for life as a Christian in a fallen world: Trust God, and leave all the consequences to Him.
I think we can do that too.
